Welcome to BCHA's Alternative Gift Shop

BCHA provide the vulnerable people within our community with the support they need to access the right housing, health, learning and work opportunities.

We have a wide range of services from homeless shelters, to CV workshops, to domestic violence refuges to accommodation and support for young people.  Although our roots are originally in Bournemouth, we have expanded our services and now support people throughout Dorset, Oxford, Reading, Exeter, Salisbury, Plymouth and Chippenham.

We support over 10,000 people each year.  Written down this may not mean much, but each one of them is an individual person, with feelings and emotions, who are often in very difficult and frightening situations through no fault of their own.

We need your help to allow us to continue providing these vital services to the vulnerable people of our society.  By looking through this website and selecting a gift to purchase for someone who really needs it, you will be able to make a real difference to someone’s life, whether you purchase a hot meal for a homeless person or a starter kitchen kit for a mother and baby, these items will allow us to continue helping people to find a way forward with their life.

How it works

  • We identify items our service users urgently need to help them to move forward on their journey to independence.
  • You browse the website, looking through the categories to the left and select which gift you would like to purchase on behalf of your friend or relative.
  • We send your friend or relative details about the gift you have purchased on their behalf, along with a personalised message from you and information on how it will help someone in need.
  • We then purchase this gift and give it to one of our service users, making a big difference to someone who needs some support to move forward with their lives.
